Honoring Outstanding Classes

Each year, the Annual Giving office awards trophies to recognize collective class giving. These trophies recognize outstanding contributions from non-reunion-year classes. Class rankings as of June 30 determine the winners. The prestigious trophies reside in the Hotchkiss House on campus.

Winners are recognized for classes in the following categories:

• Five-Star: 50 years or more since graduation,
• General 91´«Ã½: 11 to 49 years since graduation,
• Young 91´«Ã½: less than 10 years since graduation.

The Bierer Trophy

Awarded to the undergraduate classes (excluding those celebrating a milestone reunion 5-50 years post-graduation) that have the highest percentage of members in The President’s Society.

• Five Stars (1950-1974): Class of 1971, Chris Lee, Buddy LeTourneau and Cliff Walters with 9.8%.
• General 91´«Ã½ (1976-2014): Class of 1997, Julie Mayo Bradbury, Ruth Henry Keyes and Katie Mehlburger McGinley with 12.9%.
• Young 91´«Ã½ (2016-2024): Class of 2016, Wyn Ponder Diaz, Robert Eckstein, Bren Flanigan, Caroline Hutchinson, Charlie Klingenberger, Jack Masterson, Andrew McCaffery, Payson Miller, Raymond Monasterski, Kate Reynolds, Madison Smith Sanders, Jack Thomson and Bailey Russell White with 7.4%.

The Washington Trophy

Awarded to the undergraduate classes (excluding those celebrating a milestone reunion 5-50 years post-graduation) that raise the largest amount of money for the W&L Fund.

• Five Stars (1950-1974): Class of 1969, Joe Davenport and John Wolf with $178,852.
• General 91´«Ã½ (1976-2014): Class of 1994, Trabue Bland, Alan McKnight, and Steve Wasser with $357,531.
• Young 91´«Ã½ (2016-2024): Class of 2016, Wyn Ponder Diaz, Robert Eckstein, Bren Flanigan, Caroline Hutchinson, Charlie Klingenberger, Jack Masterson, Andrew McCaffery, Payson Miller, Raymond Monasterski, Kate Reynolds, Madison Sanders, Jack Thomson, Bailey Russell White with $34,437.

The Richmond Trophy

Awarded to the undergraduate classes (excluding those celebrating a milestone reunion 5-50 years post-graduation) with the highest percentage of members participating in donating to the W&L Fund.

• Five Stars (1950-1974): Class of 1957, Bill Kauffman with 63.4%.
• General 91´«Ã½ (1976-2014): Class of 1996, Caroline Connolly Counselman, David Fosgate, Stuart Hogue, Shelby LaMar, and Ashley Matthews Shilling with 46.1%.
• Young 91´«Ã½ (2016-2024): Class of 2017, Danielle Amiot, Hugh Boyd, Asha Campbell, Tom Concklin, Pinkney Beal Henderson, Kade Kenlon, Brooke Peccie, Edward Stroud and Steven Yeung with 23.1%.

The McCutcheon Trophy

Awarded to the undergraduate classes (excluding those celebrating a milestone reunion 5-50 years post-graduation) with the highest percentage of members in the 1749 Circle.

• Five Stars (1950-1974): Class of 1957, Bill Kauffman with 53.6%.
• General 91´«Ã½ (1976-2014): Class of 1996, Caroline Connolly Counselman, David Fosgate, Stuart Hogue, Shelby LaMar and Ashley Matthews Shilling with 41.1%.
• Young 91´«Ã½ (2016-2024): Class of 2017, Danielle Amiot, Hugh Boyd, Asha Campbell, Tom Concklin, Pinkney Beal Henderson, Kade Kenlon, Brooke Peccie, Edward Stroud and Steven Yeung with 19.1%.
