When you enroll at Washington and Lee, you join a vibrant, welcoming community. You and your peers will arrive with life experiences from many different places, and together, you will make W&L your own. Our campus is at the center of a small, lively, two-college town that offers 91传媒 abundant opportunities to become involved in the community and travel around the world. Students can take part in one of more than 150 clubs and organizations, and have access to abundant resources to support their personal development and wellbeing throughout their time on campus.

The First-Year Experience

First-year programming at W&L encourages 91传媒 to bond before they ever step into the classroom. Memorable activities introduce them to new friends, faculty mentors, student organizations and educational resources that make them a part of the community from day one.

Where You’ll Live

All W&L 91传媒 are required to live on campus for at least their first three years. Housing options range from traditional residence halls to fraternity and sorority houses, theme houses, apartments and townhouses. Seniors often choose to live in historic downtown Lexington or in houses in the surrounding countryside.

First-Year Housing

All first-year 91传媒 at Washington and Lee are required to live in on-campus housing in one of two first-year residence halls. Floors are divided into sections of 12 to 20 91传媒, each supervised by a Resident Adviser who is a trained, upper-division student capable of giving sympathetic and informed guidance to new 91传媒. Single, double, and triple rooms are available, and both halls are equipped with kitchens, elevators and air conditioning.

Sophomores and juniors are required to live in University housing in a variety of group settings. Many sophomores choose to live in fraternity or sorority houses or theme houses, while juniors often choose to live in the Woods Creek apartments or apartments and townhouses in the Village.

Off-Campus Housing

W&L 91传媒 are encouraged to take ownership of their actions and decisions both in and beyond the classroom. Once 91传媒 have met the University’s three-year residency requirement, they have the opportunity to live off-campus. While seniors often choose to live in downtown Lexington or the surrounding countryside, a limited number of rooms are usually available for seniors who wish to reside on campus.

We take food seriously on campus. Our Dining Services team takes pride in serving meals that are hand-crafted from the highest quality ingredients and sourcing significant portions of our food from local farmers, growers, and artisans, including produce from W&L’s own campus garden.

Located in the lower level of the John W. Elrod Commons, the Marketplace is an all-you-care-to-eat dining hall, and where first-year 91传媒 take the majority of their meals. From comfort food favorites to authentic international selections, it offers fresh and nutritious meals that will satisfy any palate.

Serving from early morning to late-night, Caf茅 77 is centrally located at the heart of campus. It is a great place to get a hand-pressed burger, hand-breaded chicken tenders, or breakfast favorites, including the iconic Sunrise Sandwich, served all day. It also offers an espresso bar, fresh sushi and grab-and-go items to enjoy on your way to or from class.

Located in the Hillel House on Washington Street, close to downtown, the E. Cafe is a kosher-style restaurant featuring a wide variety of bagels, soups, made-to-order salads, sandwiches, and smoothies.

Located in the Ruscio Center for Global Learning, the Tea House is a popular study spot and the go-to location for specialty teas and coffees, in addition to bakery items, salads, and sandwiches.

The Village

Fieldside

Fieldside is a restaurant and coffee house located above Wilson Field in the Village, W&L’s upper-division housing complex. It includes Foodside, which features rotating concept menus for dinner throughout the year, and Fireside, which offers a great space to enjoy beverages and snacks overlooking the stadium.

The Brief Stop

The Brief Stop is conveniently located on the lower level of Sydney Lewis Hall. Perfect for a quick breakfast before class or lunch with colleagues, the Brief Stop offers an extensive grab-and-go menu, wide variety of convenience items, specialty pop-up lunches and Peet’s coffee.

Outside the classroom, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to find your home on campus.
