Curated by Washington and Lee’s humanities librarian, Yolanda Merrill, this group exhibition features works that unite text and image to create art inspired by the traditional book form. The exhibit brings together over 20 national artists and showcases work from Virginia Commonwealth University’s prestigious book art collection. Working in a variety of media, the artists present work emphasizing the handmade object and the synthesis of form and content. During the exhibition, a selection of student work from the Introduction to Book Arts course will be shown in the Art Department’s ancillary spaces.
