About the Exhibition
This exhibition explores the creative process of cartoonist and illustrator . Drawings, exploratory outlines, and sketchbook pages elucidate the development of Walden’s graphic novels as she works from the initial generation of ideas to the finished product. Her distinctive style blends muted colors and subtle detail with emotional storytelling that often draws on her own life experience. Walden’s acclaimed debut graphic novel, The End of Summer, came out in 2015 when she was just 19. She has since published two more graphic novellas and, in 2016, earned her MFA from the Center for Cartoon Studies. The Texas-based artist is currently working on a graphic memoir.
