PATH FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

PATH is for current high school seniors graduating in the Class of 2026. Only 91传媒 who attend high school in the United States, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or Puerto Rico are eligible to apply.

We’ll offer two program dates to better fit 91传媒’ busy schedules. Students will arrive Sunday afternoon and return home Tuesday afternoon. Program dates are:

  • PATH I: September 21 - 23
  • PATH II: September 28 - 30

The application deadline, including all required materials, is August 8th at 11:59 pm.

You may submit screenshots of your junior year grades in the meantime, but you should plan to submit your final junior year grade report as soon as it is available.

No, your transcript does not have to be official.

The PATH application will ask for planned senior courses. We understand that your schedule may not be set yet. Please indicate what courses you think you will be taking as accurately as possible.

If your high school produces a profile, you will typically be able to obtain a copy through the school’s counseling office.

No. PATH is test-optional, and any scores you choose to send for PATH won’t carry over to your W&L admission file. Both applications are test-optional and reviewed separately.

Washington and Lee will cover the cost of flights and associated travel expenses (such as transportation to and from the airport) for 91传媒 traveling by air. Students driving to campus will be reimbursed at a rate of $0.70 per mile for round-trip travel, along with associated costs like tolls and meals. All meals during the PATH program are provided at no cost to participants.

For the 2024 program, approximately 20% of applicants were invited to attend. Because Washington and Lee is a small university, we intentionally keep the PATH program limited in size to reflect the close-knit nature of our campus community. Due to space constraints, we are unable to invite every student we are excited about. Please note that PATH decisions are separate from, and not predictive of, admission decisions to the university.

No. PATH is a visit experience, not an early application or part of the admissions process. We encourage all 91传媒 who are excited about Washington and Lee, whether or not they are invited to attend PATH, to apply for admission through the regular application process. Because space in the program is limited, we are not able to invite every student we are enthusiastic about.

It’s up to you! Submitting your CPS application is optional and may save you time, since it covers much of the same information as the PATH application. You will still need to answer a few PATH-specific questions. There is no advantage or disadvantage to using the CPS application versus completing the full PATH application.

We will host several virtual information sessions throughout the summer. Details will be shared on our website and by email. These sessions will cover topics such as the purpose of PATH, how to apply, the program schedule, and travel logistics.

If you are invited to PATH, we will connect you to our travel coordinator and host a PATH orientation on Zoom. Our staff will also be available to answer your questions at path@wlu.edu.
