Richard Carlyon: Selected Works

About the Exhibition

This exhibition, organized by the Anderson Gallery at Virginia Commonwealth University, examines the extensive oeuvre of highly respected teacher and artist Richard Carlyon (1930-2006). Carlyon was a crucial component of the Richmond arts community during the 40 years he taught at VCU. The breadth of his artistic exploration was vast, including drawings, paintings, sculptures, collage, and video. His work was recently catalogued and, in September 2009, exhibited in a retrospective that took place simultaneously at four different venues in Richmond. This exhibition presents a selection of works from that important event.
