
Crisis Triage
Please note, if a student is in immediate danger, please call 911 or 988 and Public Safety at 540-458-8999.
Crisis triage is a same-day service to provide rapid assessment, safety planning, and coordination of appropriate interventions, which may include assessment at a local emergency department and/or hospitalization. Crisis triage is appropriate if a student is experiencing the following symptoms:
- Imminent thoughts of suicide, homicide, harm to self or harm to others
- Hallucinations, delusions and/or disorganized thinking and/or behavior
- Inability to sleep for two or more days WITH a decreased need for sleep
During business hours, a student or community member should contact Lindley Counseling at 540-458-8590 or contact Public Safety at 540-458-8999. After-hours or on weekends, a student or community member should contact Public Safety at 540-458-8999.
Additionally, W&L partners with , a 24/7 teletherapy service that can provide risk assessments by a trained clinician with expertise in crisis counseling and assessment. using your W&L email or contact 866-743-7732.
Please note, if you do not meet criteria for Crisis Triage but would like to be seen quickly due to a recent or new situation, please contact Lindley Counseling at 540-458-8590 to request an earlier appointment (existing student) or a Wellness Consult (new student).
